Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 21, 2026

ContestLog Canada ("ContestLog," "we," "us," or "our") operates contestlog.ca and its contest-discovery and tracking tools. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, when service providers process it for us, and the choices available to you.

We describe our cloud database, authentication, hosting, and infrastructure vendors by function rather than publishing a detailed list of our technical stack. This does not change our responsibility to explain the categories of information processed and the purposes for which service providers receive it.

1. Information You Provide

  • Account information: email address and authentication information. Authentication is handled by a cloud authentication provider; ContestLog does not have access to your plain-text password.
  • Profile and eligibility information: province, city, and date of birth when supplied to personalize eligible contest results and confirm that account features are appropriate for your age.
  • Tracker information: saved contests, entry dates, entry totals, custom contests, and related preferences.
  • Communication choices: newsletter or update consent and any preferences you change in account settings.
  • Messages: information you send through support or contact channels.

2. Information Collected Automatically

ContestLog uses essential browser storage for security, login sessions, saved contests, tracker operation, and dismissed notices.

ContestLog uses Vercel Web Analytics for anonymous, aggregate site measurement. It does not use cookies, retain IP addresses, or track a visitor across different websites or days. It may record page views, referrers, country or city, device type, operating system, and browser. Vercel derives a daily visitor identifier from the incoming request and discards it after 24 hours.

ContestLog also uses Google Analytics, which may automatically collect information such as:

  • Pages viewed, approximate visit time, referring page, and navigation activity
  • Clicks on contest links and other interactions configured as analytics events
  • Approximate geographic area derived from an IP address
  • Browser, operating system, device category, screen information, and language
  • Cookies, pseudonymous identifiers, and similar technologies used to distinguish visits and understand usage

We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, dates of birth, or other directly identifying account fields to Google Analytics.

3. Google Analytics and Advertising Features

ContestLog uses Google Analytics to measure traffic, engagement, and site performance. Analytics may use cookies and pseudonymous identifiers and may include enhanced measurement, Google Signals, demographic and interest reporting, and advertising-related features. When Google Signals is active, Google may associate information about visits with users who are signed in to Google and have enabled Ads Personalization, subject to their Google settings.

Google explains how it processes information from websites that use its services in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can also review Google's Privacy Policy and manage advertising personalization through your Google account.

ContestLog also uses Vercel Web Analytics for cookie-free, anonymous aggregate measurement. This provides basic page-view, visitor, device, referrer, and geographic reporting without receiving your ContestLog account profile.

4. Advertising

ContestLog may use Google AdSense or another advertising provider to display advertisements. When advertising is enabled and you permit advertising technologies, third parties may place or read cookies in your browser or use web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to deliver, limit, measure, and report advertising. Ads may be personalized using previous activity or may be contextual and based on the current page and approximate location.

Non-personalized ads can still use cookies or identifiers for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention, and aggregated reporting. Availability of advertising choices can depend on your location and the provider used.

5. How We Use Information

  • Provide accounts, saved contests, entry tracking, and regional filtering
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve ContestLog
  • Measure traffic and understand which features and content are useful
  • Communicate about support requests, service notices, and opted-in updates
  • Detect abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with lawful obligations
  • Serve and measure advertising when enabled and permitted

6. Service Providers and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your ContestLog account information. We use service providers for cloud hosting, authentication, database storage, analytics, security, email delivery, and advertising. They may process information on our behalf to provide those services and are subject to their own contractual and legal obligations.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the service, investigate abuse or security incidents, or complete a business transfer. We do not provide Google Analytics with personally identifiable information such as your account email address.

7. Storage, Security, and International Processing

Account and tracker data are stored using cloud infrastructure with access controls and security safeguards appropriate to the service. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and protect access to your email account.

Service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries. Information processed outside your province or country may be subject to the laws and lawful-access requirements of that jurisdiction.

8. Retention

We retain account and tracker information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Analytics and infrastructure providers retain information according to configured retention periods and their applicable policies. Browser-based guest data remains on the device until it expires, is removed by the application, or you clear browser storage.

9. Your Privacy Choices

You can also restrict cookies through browser settings, clear locally saved ContestLog data by clearing site storage, manage Google advertising settings, or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking storage may affect sign-in and tracker features.

10. Access, Correction, and Deletion

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your ContestLog account. Some information may be retained when required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Contact contact@contestlog.ca for assistance.

11. Children

ContestLog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contest eligibility is controlled by each sponsor and often requires the age of majority. Parents or guardians who believe a child provided information should contact us.

12. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy as ContestLog, its providers, or legal requirements change. The revised date will appear at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the website.

Questions or privacy requests can be sent to contact@contestlog.ca or through our contact page.
